Very Funny: Monty Python

Christmas Movies

I haven’t seen any movies recently. It’s really a shame. I just haven’t had the time with basketball and homework that teachers decided to load up on before Christmas break. But I plan on watching plenty on my 5 days off from basketball and the rest of the break. My mom will want to watch the old classics that have become a “tradition” in our house. Which brings up the topic of holiday movies.

Good holiday movies are becoming more rare as years pass. They are becoming clichéd with ideas being repeated. I have not seen a holiday movie in the last two or three years that has been decent. The most recent movie that I enjoyed a lot was Elf. Will Ferrell was great in this movie. This idea was original and very creative. Any time somebody is raised by elves and thinks that he is in elf even though he is 6 foot 6, turns out to be interesting. This was a funny movie, but had its sincere moments too. If you have not seen this film, I would highly recommend it during the holiday season that everybody in the family will enjoy.

When I talk about classic Christmas movies, I am talking about two in particular: It’s a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story. These are the two best Christmas films ever made and I do not think that there will be any more like them. I have grown up in an era of bad movies and even worse morals, but I realize how good of a film It’s a Wonderful Life is. Even though it is black and white (that was the beginning of my protest before the first time my parents showed this to me), it still is a, I hate to say it, wonderful film. Jimmy Stewart plays a man who never does a thing for himself and ends up breaking down, but a guardian angle, Clarence, comes down and shows him how the world could have been different without him. This opens up his eyes and he comes to realize that he loves his life. (That might have been the worst explanation of any movie, ever, so just watch it and you will realize that it really is a good movie.)

A Christmas Story is my personal favorite. It is funny and interesting and is an overall good movie. Ralphy really wants a BB gun (its more than just a plain old BB gun though) for Christmas but everybody tells him, “You’ll shoot your eye out, kid.” This movie is the trials that he and his family face leading up to Christmas, and the struggles he goes through in order to get this gun. Once again, you will have to take my word that this is a horrible explanation and, once again, have to take my word that the movie is actually good.

The "Holiday Season"

The “holiday season” is about 3 weeks too long. The first time I saw a Christmas commercial advertising a sale on TV was before Halloween. BEFORE HALLOWEEN!!!!!! That is just wrong. I thought that Christmas was supposed to be a holiday where good values and the birth of Christ were to be celebrated. Not some money making machine. Everything is always about money. We have to suck every cent out of Christmas that we can. We can’t let an old traditional holiday go unscarred.

For me, the “holiday season” should start on Thanksgiving and end a day or two after Christmas. It shouldn’t start before Halloween and end after New Years. That is just ridiculous. Companies are sucking every penny that they can out of this, and ruining a perfectly good holiday. The other thing about extending the time Christmas is acceptable is that radio stations and stores feel the need to play Christmas music. I can only stand so much of Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. I heard reports of Christmas music being played before Thanksgiving, thankfully I wasn’t there, but I’m sure it was torture for the people who were present. My thanks for Thanksgiving- not being a victim of premature Christmas music playing. I think that a human only has a certain capacity to withstand Christmas music, and if stores and radio stations are playing it too long, than by the time Christmas actually arrives, people will be so sick of Christmas music that there will be no joy. I know that, as of December 17, I am already tired of these rudimentary jingles. But I see people still withstanding, I guess some people have a higher threshold with the power to endure Christmas music.

One thing that got on my nerves this “holiday season” was the atheist sign controversy. I’m not 100% informed on this because I do not live in Washington and I was not involved in anyway with this story. But I have my opinions too. I believe that there should have been no controversy at all. None. I do not understand the viewpoint of the people who were opposed to this sign. These people are hypocritical saying that the sign should be taken down. But I don’t see the atheist group complaining about the Christmas tree (they can call it a “Holiday” tree all they want but we all know that it is meant to be a “Christmas” tree) and nativity scene. It just bothers me that the majority religious group can do whatever they want, but the minority religious group has to be quiet and abide by the rules. I know that this is not a well constructed argument right now, but I will come back to this subject in a more thoughtful manor in a later post.

Basketball Season

Basketball is finally in full swing. Every level and every age is playing and games are beginning. I could say that I am excited for it all, but that would only be halfway true. I am excited to play basketball yes, but the two and a half hour practices followed by half an hour of film is a little much. I liked the old days when I played for just an AAU team and we had one, maybe two, practices a week and tournaments on the weekends and that was it. All you did was show up and play games. But I know that all the work for the school team pay off in the end. The end result of the high school season is about 127 times better than any 8th grade AAU team.

While I am on the topic of basketball, I need to address the activity of basketball viewing. Watching basketball on TV is something I do fairly often, sometimes because it is halfway interesting and sometimes because it is the only thing on. But whenever I watch basketball on TV, I always watch college games. This is for two reasons: 1- college basketball is pure. The players are not getting paid millions of dollars to play; they are playing for the love of the game. 2- NBA basketball is not really basketball, it just a bunch of guys who seem like they don’t even care about the game and are just playing for the money. Isn’t sad that everything comes down to money.

College basketball is basketball at its finest. It is played hard and fair and teams actually try and play defense. Most of the players that you see are not going to the NBA, college players play for the game. They play hard and with emotion. This is what causes some of the best teams to get beat, the underdog just wants it more. One of the greatest television events (even though it is also just a money maker) is March Madness. I love watching this because it is a cumulative result of a year of basketball that comes down to two teams that have out lasted the rest. They may not be the best two teams in the nation, but they, once again, just wanted it more.

NBA basketball on the other hand, is just a wrong. The players are playing for the wrong reasons and they are wrong in the way they play as well. Almost every player is playing for the money, not for the game. I think that they are overpaid, and if you paid them what they actually deserve, almost nothing, then about 95% of them would leave the game. NBA players should not be making millions to play a game, a game that is corrupt and impure, and going down the wrong path.

The Shining Trailer: Recut

This is a spoof on The Shinig that uses all original footage from the movie. I thought it was great because if you haven't seen the movie, this trailer is very believeable. If you read my last post, you can watch the orignal Shining trailer which I think is much better. But that is just because I have seen the movie and I don't think that the original trailer could have been done any other way because it fits the movie so perfectly.

Sometimes I Crave A Good Movie

Sometimes I crave a good movie. Its one of those things that every now and then I just want to sit down and watch a movie that when I walk away, I’m pleased. I’m pleased because it made me laugh, or it made me sad, or it made me sit on the edge of my seat with my heart racing. But most of all it has to make me think. Not think about how much of a waste of time it was or how it could have been completely different, which would have made it better. I want to think about the people in the movie. I say people because I want to feel that the characters are real humans, not some fabricated segment of somebody’s mind. I want to think about the decisions that these people made, I want to think about how they could have affected the outcome. Movies that leave me with different emotions and thoughts are good movies. I know then that I did not waste my time.

Sometimes I crave a good movie. I might be sitting in Spanish class thinking about nothing in particular and then the thought about wasting my time runs across my mind. I think about all the ways that I could possible be wasting my time: watching TV, reading, cleaning my room, the rest of the day at school, watching a movie…

When the thought of watching a movie wanders through, I pause, and think about some of the movies that I have just thought “why am I watching this?” But I also think about the movies that have not been a waste of my time. I think about Little Miss Sunshine, about Donny Darko, about Memento, about Son of Rambow, and about many more. I think about ways that I could possible sneak out of Spanish and get into some comfortable clothes and sit in my basement and watch these movies the rest of the day. If only.

Sometimes I crave a good movie. But sometimes all I have is 45 minutes. So sometimes I settle with the Nothing But Trailers show. This show is non-stop movie trailers and I love it almost as much as I love movies. I love it because I see new movies that aren’t out yet, and I also get to see trailers of movies that are classics and movies I have already seen. This was where I saw the original trailer for The Shining. It creeped me out so much, I couldn’t not watch the movie. I can say that I was pleased because The Shining made me think.

Sports Movies

Sports and movies. Those are the two topics that I said I would try to be consistent on writing about on my blog. These are two topics that I know a little about and that I am fairly interested in. So why not combine the two, and write about sports movies? Good idea, right?

Sports movies may be one of the hardest genres of movies to make. It is difficult to make them realistic, intriguing, and not cheesy. Most sports movies are feel good movies with the underdog winning in the end. There are a few good movies like that (Hoosiers most notability), but most are just follow the generic template of setting up the underdog story then showing them win. A lot of these feel good sports movies come from Disney. So when I sit down to watch a sports movie and I see the Disney castle come to the screen, I already have a biased view before the movie even starts.

Even with some of the most average or worst movies having the sports theme, some of the best movies ever produced revolve around sports. Sometimes these movies are feel good, they just have a different way of getting to that point, and some of the time these movies do not end with the “good guy” or main character coming out on top. These movies are especially moving because we are so used to seeing the underdog win, that when he doesn’t, it is unexpected and, I feel, appreciated more.

The two sports movies that stick out in my mind where the main character (or team) doesn’t win are Friday Night Lights and Raging Bull. Friday Night Lights is a good football movie that is fairly realistic for southern high school football. They main team gets to the championship but they fail to score a final touchdown and their season ends. I thought that this was a good movie and I was pleased when I walked away.

Raging Bull is one of the best overall films ever made. It is a tragic story of Jake LaMatta, the middle weight champion boxer of the 1940’s and 50’s. The movie is the struggles he faces in his life and in the end he basically loses everything. The end is dark because you had seen this champion on the top of his game with a great life in the beginning of the movie, but you see him as a bum with nothing, not even his champion belt, in the end.

So I have been talking about some of the best sports movies, but I have not mentioned all of them. So here are my favorite movies by sport:
Football- Remember the Titans
Basketball- Hoosiers
Baseball- Tie between Bull Durham and Field of Dreams
Golf- Caddyshack
Boxing- Raging Bull

Things That Annoy Me

I know that blogs are supposed to have a few topics that they write about consistently, and I am trying to do that. But I have to break the rules (they are more like guidelines anyway) and make an exception one time. Today, I’m going to write about things that annoy me.

There are many things in a regular day that annoy or irritate me. Some are small things, some are large things, but whatever it may be, they still, unfortunately, exist. Most of these things, other human beings do. I’m not trying to be a downer, pessimist, or old mean guy, but some of the things people do are just downright annoying/stupid.

I am going to start with people who walk very slowly or stand in the middle of hallways. There is a simple solution, mover over to the side. I know it’s a revolutionary idea, but you could be considerate of other people who actually want to get someplace.

One of the major things that annoys me is people who tell me what to think. These people need to go live in a cave somewhere. I will come back to this one later (it has political implications also), but I just need to say, you have your opinions, I have my opinions, and that is perfectly acceptable.

My number one most annoying thing is incompetent drivers. Most of the people that are driving, should NOT be driving. They should either be in a passenger seat, sitting at home, or on a bicycle. They do not know what is going on around them, and sometimes I get the urge to just run into them. This actually happened to me today. I wanted to turn right at a stoplight and I was sitting behind somebody who also happened to be turning right. The light was red and there was nobody coming for a mile. But I’m still sitting there. I sat there until the light turned green. I was actually sitting there until about fifteen seconds after the light turned green because the car in front of me refused to go. I don’t know if they didn’t see the light change or if they just couldn’t find the gas pedal, but I let them know that they were making me wait for nothing. So then this person turns, thankfully it’s a two-lane road that we are turning onto so I can pass them. But no, this person has to turn then basically stop (I think we were only going about 8 mph) in the middle of the road. Wow was I mad. When they finally realized what they were doing, they moved over into a single lane so I could pass them.

Maybe I’m doing something wrong. Maybe I’m not a good person. But those kinds of things just set me off. I try to at least be aware that there are other people living on this planet.

The New Mr. President

I don’t know why I’ve waited this long, but I am going to talk about the new president of the United States of America. Barack Obama along with running mate Joe Biden, beat out the old guy and his Barbie doll.

I have been for Barack since the very beginning. If I was old enough, I would have caucused for him, and I am relieved to see that it is finally over, with him coming out on top. I think he is a good guy, with his morals, ideas, and character in the right place. I respect his opinion, even though I may not agree with it all the time (isn’t that the whole point of your own opinion, to think what you want and not what other people tell you to think?). I think he will do an excellent job in the white house, started to get the economy and debt on the right track, and start to pull the troops out of places they should not have been in the first place. He may not live up to all the expectations set for him, which is fine, at least he wont lie to the people and run the country into the ground like somebody else…

Now, I have said all along that whoever wins will do a far better job then our current president has done. I even felt that John McCain would do better. People said that they feared he would just be an extension of the Bush administration, and I agree somewhat, he is a republican. But I do believe he is smarter and has dealt with issues in a mature manor before, so he wouldn’t have been bad.

When John McCain selected Sara Palin to be his running mate, I thought that wasn’t a bad idea, he was just trying to get the woman vote. But after a couple of weeks, and the vice-presidential debate, I was dumbfounded. First, because they had actually found somebody that would be a WORSE president (if anything happened to John, like, maybe passing of old age) than Bush. She doesn’t speak in complete sentences, talks in a condescending, smug voice, and hasn’t answered a question that was asked directly to her, ever. Second, because of how the campaign tried to build her up. They basically set her up to fail. They tried to tell the American people she was an old, experienced maverick, just like John McCain. I’m sorry, but you don’t go from being the governor of Alaska for a couple of years, to an experienced political leader overnight. That was my biggest fear about this election, Sara Palin. If McCain had won, and something happened to him and Palin took office, I would have moved to Canada. This is my serious face. I’m not joking. Palin in office is more scary then anything ever in the history of the world, even the comet that destroyed all the dinosaurs.

My Relaxing Weekend

This past weekend was a nice relaxing weekend for me. I’m going to enjoy it while I can because basketball starts in a week, consuming everyday with almost no time to breath. Fun right?

I brought up this because on my nice relaxing weekends I have nothing better to do then to watch movies. I think that I watch a lot of movies, and most of that movie watching comes on weekends. My dad says how I need to be “movie educated” and watch all of the good old ones. I agree. I think that to understand and enjoy a good movie, you have to know what you are looking for.

Last weekend I watched The Shining (it was close enough to Halloween). The classic horror movie with Jack Nicholson and Shelly Duval in which Jack becomes the caretaker of some far off hotel for the 5 month winter and goes crazy. The original trailer for this movie is the elevator doors with the blood running through them. That’s all. After I saw this trailer, I couldn’t not see the movie, I was intrigued. I could not have pictured anybody but Jack Nicholson in that role; he plays the best crazy person, just watch One Flew Over the Coo Coo’s Nest. It is hard to explain why, but some parts are just plain creepy and make you never want to be with JUST your family again. There is just one last think I need to say about this movie, “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” was running through my mind, like it was running through the typewriter, for the at least week.

The movie that I saw this weekend was Apocalypse Now. Martin Sheen in the Vietnam War going up a river to kill an American officer gone crazy. It has many famous actors around Sheen, including Marlon Brando, Robert Duval, Dennis Hopper, and a 17-year-old Lawrence (“Larry”) Fishburne. I have seen my share of war movies, and I think this does one of the best jobs of showing the thought process going though soldier’s minds during the war. Insane. That’s all. It shows how war basically makes men go crazy. Robert Duval, as a commander early on in the movie, who wants to surf while an attack is taking place, and Lawrence Fishburne opening fire on a woman who just wants to save her puppy. These are small instances of insanity, but they are evident as you watch the movie, we see the characters go through the transformation from sane to crazy. There are two acts to the movie, and I liked the first act better. I think it was because there was more action going on, and the second act was just weird, it was when the craziness really showed its true colors. But the movie was really good overall, and it left me thinking, which is what I look for in a movie.

Hawkeyes Upset Penn St.

I am a huge football fan. But, even though I live in the heart of Hawkeye country, I am not a big Iowa fan. I don’t really have a reason for this; it’s just that I never got around to liking them. I wasn’t born here, I moved here when I was in kindergarten, and I don’t have a favorite college football team. If I did, it probably would not be the Hawkeyes. I don’t have anything against them, they didn’t do anything wrong, I just don’t have a fondness for them like most of the other people that walk through the halls of my school do.

But I must admit that their win over Penn St. was miraculous. Penn St. is a good football team. I was looking for them to get into the national championship to give the Big Ten some representation, but that is out of the question now. I thought that they were just going to overwhelm the Hawks and beat them just on pure talent alone. But this was not the case. The talented Penn St. team did not shine verse the Hawks. But Penn St. has nobody to blame but themselves. They threw the game away. Iowa played like they usually do: turning the ball over on key possessions, making penalty’s that give the other team first downs when they were going to punt the ball away and give the Hawks decent field position. Penn St. just didn’t convert when they had the opportunity. They did get the Hawks down and keep them down like they (and everybody else in the nation) know they are capable of doing.

Now on to more college football.  Texas vs. Texas Tech. I was convinced that Texas was going to win this game. They had gone through a grueling schedule up to that point, and they had succeeded. They had overcome ever obstacle in their way and, I thought, were going to make a run to the national championship undefeated. This was not the case. It was close, as everybody expected, but Texas Tech found the way to pull this one out. Maybe it was the Harrell-Crabtree combination, or maybe it was just Graham Harrell. I think he is the best quarterback in this country. No doubt. If you just look at his staggering numbers, he blows everybody else away. But it’s not just the numbers. As you can see from that game, he also has the leadership to lead his team and come out victorious. But don’t doubt Colt McCoy, I think he is the second best. Just watch him play a game, its pretty impressive. He would have won the Heisman if Harrell didn’t beat him.

This is Odd...

I saw this on the Daily Show last night and was completly amazed. I was amazed at way the people think Sara Palin is an actual experienced politician and ready to be the vice-president of the United States of America. I don't know, maybe there is a difference between what the mayor of Wasila used to do and what the current mayor does now. But I have my doubts. As you can see, the current mayor of Wasila, Dianne M. Keller, doesn't really do much at all. She has a staff meeting on Monday and she signs checks on Thursday, but other then that, she doesn't really do much. Maybe I'm missing something, but if you can't explain the things you do in a typical day, your either are not that bright or you don't do anything. Maybe I'm missing something here too, but if you don't do anything, its hard to call that experience and enough qualification to become vice-president of the U.S.A.

5 Movies I Would Bring to a Deserted Island

So I was sitting here trying to think of what to write about (I have a feeling this wont be the last time) and I was pretty stuck. So I jokingly asked my dad what I should write about because he asked what I was doing just sitting at the computer. His response was perfect. He told me to write about the five movies I would bring to a deserted island. I figured that since I wanted to write about movies on this blog, this was actually a fairly good idea. So here you go, the five movies I would bring with me to a deserted island. Note that these may not be my top favorite movies, just movies that I am thinking would be good on a desolate island.

1- Little Miss Sunshine. This is a great movie that is touching and heart warming. Every time I watch it, it gets better and better. The cast is perfect and work great together. The little girl (I don’t know her name, but she is Olive in the movie) I so sweet and innocent that I can’t not smile when I watch her do the stuff that she wants to do. The last scene is classic, I don’t want to give away the ending, but I must say that they are awesome dancers!

2- Castaway. I would bring this movie just to see how to be lonely. I think Tom Hanks is really good, and that supporting cast makes him look outstanding. If I was stranded on a deserted island, that is how I would learn to do all the stuff needed to survive.

3- Anchorman. I know I would need a good laugh eventually, and who better to deliver the performance then Will Ferrell as a newscaster? This has one of the best scenes out of any movie I have seen, the street fight. I’ll just leave it at that there is a bunch of guys from competing channels, fighting in a back ally, with homemade weapons.

4- Rocky (the first one). After I watch this movie, I want to go out and run a marathon. It just gets me pumped up. I think I would need that motivation if I were all by myself on a deserted island. It just goes to show that you can surmount insurmountable odds and come out on top.

5- Raising Arizona. Once again, this is just a great movie. There really isn’t a reason for bringing it, other then that it’s a classic. This has one of my favorite characters of all time in it. The bounty hunter. I don’t know his name, but he is just a big, mean, tough, grizzly bear of a man that is terrorizing Nicholas Cage throughout the movie. The scene where they meet in the end is just great. It’s just plain and simple with no background distraction (like music) and optimizes the way the movie was made. It’s a well written, well acted, and overall good movie.

Mother's Food

OK, so I’m going to try and cover all the topics I thought I would right about on my blog right away to see which ones are worth continuing and which ones are not my time and effort.

Today is going to be about food. Good old, home baked, downright amazing food.  For me, there are only two people in this world that can make food like that, my mom and my grandma. Others try, like my dad and grandpa and other peoples moms, but nobody can put food on the table that just makes me happy like my mom and grandma. There is just something that they do to make it special and amazingly appetizing. It has that quality that only they can put on it. Everybody knows this. Your mom’s homemade cookies are about ten times better then any cookie you can buy at the store. It’s just that simple.

My brother came home on a visit from college this past weekend. He brought a couple of his football buddies with him, so I’m pretty sure my mom felt she had to cook for them. I highly doubt lasagna, apple slices, and a large breakfast were on the menu for my dad and I that weekend, until she found out my brother was coming home. I don’t mind so much when my brother comes home, I get to eat well.

Now I know that sometimes when you read or think about food, you get hungry. But I can’t miss this opportunity to describe how amazing my weekend was.  Yes, the food alone made my weekend amazing.

I actually didn’t know my brother was having his friends over until about midway through the afternoon. I came up from downstairs and say that my mom had been cooking all day. I can always tell when she has been cooking all day because she always wears an apron and turns the radio on and sings along. I inquired into what she was cooking and found that I was going to eat well that night. Lasagna, my favorite dinner, and apple slices, one of my favorite desserts. Now you need to know why lasagna (of course my mothers) is my favorite dinner. I am Italian, so naturally I like Italian food. But I don’t just like it, I couldn’t live without it. Anything that’s Italian is my favorite, but lasagna trumps them all. This is because lasagna combines everything that is great about Italian into one bite. The great pastas. The great sauces. The great meats and sausages. The great cheeses. The overall greatness of Italy in one great bite of food. But in my mom’s lasagna, everything is amplified. The approximately four inch tall masterpiece of lasagna is easily the best food on this planet.

Then came the apple slices for dessert. I am a chocolate guy. Put chocolate on just about anything and I think it is better. But apple slices have no hint of chocolate in them. They are just apples and sugar under a crust and sugar topping. They are just great. There is something about them that just makes them impossible to stop eating. Any food that you just can’t stop eating, even if you are full, is a food that is worth your while.

Sports Just Keep Dragging On

Football is my favorite sport right now. There is no doubt. Either playing or watching, it doesn’t matter, it is really fun and exciting. Having the ability to run around and hit people as hard as you possible can is not a chance you get everyday, unless, of course, you play football. But even if you don’t play football, it can still be enjoyable. Sitting on you r couch on a Saturday afternoon, what else do you watch other then college football? Even if you don’t care about either team playing, if it’s a close game, you have to stay around and watch it.

But just like any other sport, football drags on too long. 16 weeks of football, bowl games 3 weeks after the regular season is over, and the Super Bowl in February. If I played football for a living, I would just get tired of playing after a while. I think the high school season is just right. As of right now, at the beginning of the last week of the regular season, I’m thinking, “ok I’m starting to get tired of playing, but I can go for one more week.” Then comes sub-state and the playoffs, which rejuvenates everybody all over again because we all want to go out and prove that this season was not just a waste of time. Playing in the playoffs just gives you a good feeling because you can say you are better then over half the teams in the state. Winning in the playoffs gives and even better feeling, but I’m not going to go there until we actually do win.

Now I have been talking about football dragging on, but it is not even the worst. It is not even the second worst at dragging on. The worst is easily baseball, then comes basketball. Baseball is still going on right now on October 19. I thought baseball was a summer sport, but they start in the spring and play until the end of fall. I’m not interested in baseball, no matter if it’s the World Series or not, during week 9 of football. Maybe it has something to do with the ridiculously large number of 162 games played in the regular season. That’s just too much, I don’t care who you are.

Then basketball. I just saw a preseason game the other day, once again during week 9 of football. I thought basketball was supposed to be a winter sport. But they start in the fall and play into the spring, right during the time baseball starts. Its all so much, so many games played, so many practices, so many road trips. After a while, it just doesn’t seem like a game anymore.

Movies

What is the funniest movie you have ever seen? What is the scariest? The saddest? The best? For me, it’s any that makes me think. Picking one movie to be the best is almost impossible. You can have more than one favorite movie, that not against the law. Unless there is just one movie that blows you away and you can’t stop thinking about it, it’s perfectly fine to have a list of your favorite movies. I think it’s almost a bad thing to pick a single movie as the best.

Making a decent movie is a daunting task. To be successful is very hard. This is because different people define being successful differently. To one person, successful may mean you make a movie that attempts to offend nobody. But to another person, successful may mean to make a movie that points out the flaws in society, offending a lot of people. I think that for a filmmaker to be successful, he needs to make the movie that he pictures in his head, and not let anybody change what he envisions.

Now back to favorite movies. Like I said before, I have not a single favorite movie, but a list of the top movies I have seen. All of these top movies are ones that make me think. After the movie is over, I’m thinking to myself about how it could have turned if this had happened or how it could have been different if the character chose to do this instead of that. A good movie leaves me feeling like I haven’t seen enough and I don’t want it to be over. I never can get enough of a good movie.

Now I’m going to start something. At the end of each post I will try to include a YouTube video to search for. I have that nifty little search YouTube thing on the side of my blog and I want to put it to good use. So here is the first one: Search “afro ninja” (its only on my mind because we were watching it in class today. I’m not even saying its that good, its just for a quick laugh).

Topics on My Blog

This is my first real post on my blog. It almost feels good except I don't know what to write about. Generally, blogs have one or two main topics that they are consistent in writing about. I don't feel I have one or two topics that I could write about for a couple of weeks, let alone the rest of the school year. The good news is that I am allowed three or four topics to write about consistently. Great. That makes it so much easier. I hope that the topic of "whatever is on my mind" is acceptable. But I'm going to be optimistic, I think I might be able to pull this off. There are a couple of things that I do really like. I could probably write a lot about sports. I play a lot of those. I think I might also be able to write about movies, I really appreciate a good movie. Some other topics that might be found on this blog are politics (I really don't know a lot about them, but I do know that I have some opinions on what is going on), the culinary arts, and ______. That blank is there because I do not know what I am going to uncover throughout the year and I do not know if I will find something that appeals to me enough to consistently write about.

WOW!

This might have been the hardest thing to create in the world.
